校况综述_

（一）学校概况_

　　 北京师范大学校园总面积1048亩，2004年在校学生16000余人，其中本科生8000余人，研究生6000余人，长、短期留学生2000余人。现有教职工近3000人，其中正高职称的教师407人，副高职称的教师729人。_


　　学校现设19个学院（文学院、哲学与社会学院、经济与工商管理学院、教育学院、教育管理学院、心理学院、外国语言文学学院、艺术与传媒学院、汉语文化学院、政治学与国际关系学院、数学科学学院、信息科学学院、生命科学学院、地理学与遥感科学学院、环境学院、管理学院、体育与运动学院、资源学院、继续教育与教师培训学院），6个系（历史系、法律系、物理系、化学系、天文系、材料科学与工程系），14个研究院/所/中心（低能核物理研究所、史学研究所、古籍整理研究所、社会发展与公共政策研究所、经济与资源管理研究所、分析测试中心、教育部高等学校蛋白质组学研究院、北京文化发展研究院、首都教育经济研究院、高等教育研究所等）。_

　　学校在“七五”、“八五”期间，被确定为国家首批重点建设的十所大学之一。“九五”、“十五”期间，又被首批列入“211工程”建设计划；在教育部“教育振兴行动计划”中，作为有特色的重点大学得到了国家和北京市的支持。2002年8月，教育部、北京市签署了重点共建北京师范大学的协议，北京师范大学进入新的发展机遇期。_

　　2002年9月8日，北京师范大学在人民大会堂隆重举行建校100周年庆祝大会，党和国家领导人江泽民、朱镕基、李瑞环、胡锦涛、尉健行、李岚清等出席大会。江泽民同志作了关于教育创新的重要讲话，对北京师范大学百年办学成就给予了充分肯定，为北京师范大学的发展指明了方向。_

（二）历史沿革与优良传统_

　　北京师范大学的前身是 1902 年创立的京师大学堂师范馆， 1908 年独立设校，改称京师优级师范学堂。 1912 年改名北京高等师范学校， 1923 年更名为北京师范大学，成为中国历史上第一所师范大学， 1931 年和 1952 年北京女子师范大学、辅仁大学先后并入北京师范大学。一百年来，北京师范大学始终同中华民族争取独立、自由、民主、富强的进步事业同呼吸，共命运，其师生在“五
